About this event

Zaccaria Group, Metric and OPP are pleased to announce the return to Australia of one of the most iconic hip-hop artists of our time, Ghostface Killlah, from the legendary Wu-Tang Clan. Joining Ghostface as special guest is Australian touring favourite Pharoahe Monch.

Emerging in the mid 90s, New York City's Wu-Tang Clan proved to be one of the decade's most intense, popular and revolutionary rap groups selling millions of albums worldwide. The nine-MC Clan is considered one of the most critically and commercially successful hip-hop groups of all time, and rose to fame with their uncompromising brand of music. Ghost face Killah emerged as one of the standout MC’s in the group and has had a hugely successful solo career beginning with the release of Ironman in 1996. He has gone onto release 12 albums including the critically acclaimed releases “The Pretty Toney Album” and “Fishscale” which debuted at Number 2 in US. His fast-paced flow, and emotional stream-of-consciousness narratives regularly sees him on “Best Of” lists. In 2006, MTV included him on their list of Greatest MC’s Of All Time, while the editors of About.com placed him on their list of the Top 50 MC’s of Our Time calling him “one of the most imaginative story tellers of our time”. Q Magazine called him “Rap’s finest story teller”, while Pitchfork Media stated that, “Ghostface has unparalleled storytelling instincts; he must be the best, most colourful storyteller rap has ever seen”.

From his debut in the nineties as one half of the duo Organized Konfusion, Pharoahe Monch has remained praised as one of underground hip-hop’s most intricate and intellectually pronounced emcees. Born in Queens and after his stint in the hit group Organized Konfusion, Monch went on to establish a successful solo career. His 1999 critically acclaimed debut solo album “Internal Affairs” included his hit single “Simon Says” which soared on the Billboard Hot 100 and pushed Monch into commercial success. Over the course of more than a decade Monch went on to release three more albums including “Desire” (2007) and “W.A.R.” (2010) Which included the track “Clap” produced by Australia’s very own M-Phazes. Monch’s most recent album “P.S.T.D” was released in April 2014 and includes features from fellow veterans Talib Kweli and Vernon Reid.

All this is being bought to you by two Perth Powerhouse brands, Elements and Father. Elements recently bought you one of the hip-hop shows of the year headlined by Common and Mos Def, and have Cypress Hill and DJ Jazzy Jeff on the way. This double bill with Ghostface Killah and Pharoahe Monch, tops of a great year for the Elements brand. Father has been bringing the best hip-hop and trap night to Flyrite in Northbridge for just under a year now. Week in and out, Father have been fighting the Northbridge stereotype with the best Hip-hop/urban themed party in the city. Perth get ready for this not to be missed hip-hop tour from two of the best on the mic!
